If you love candy and make your home in Kittery Maine or surrounding area, then you must have already discovered Yummies Candy Store. And if you’ve never been there, you simply must stop in. The rows upon rows and stacks upon stacks of candy they have is a complete feast for the eyes – talk about ‘eye candy’!!

Lobster Buoys and Water Views Around Portsmouth NH Homes

Life here in the Portsmouth NH Seacoast areas means being fortunate to be able to enjoy wonderful water views like this. This view shows some of the colorful lobster buoys that local lobstermen use to mark their string of lobster traps. These must have been found along the shore or were discarded by a lobsterman.

I love living here and making my home in Portsmouth for so many reasons – these types of views just make Portsmouth NH that much more special!

Peaceful Waters of Kittery Maine

I never tire of the beautiful water views we have all around us here in the Portsmouth NH area. We’re right here on the coast, so we have the Atlantic Ocean right here. We also have rivers, and channels off the rivers, Great Bay, lakes and ponds. If you love being on and near the water, you should come check out this area – make Portsmouth NH your home!

The water in this back channel in Kittery Maine was just like a mirror the day I took this picture – so peaceful and tranquil.

Kittery Maine Waterviews

Living here in Portsmouth NH and being able to sell real estate in both Maine and New Hampshire, I get to enjoy fabulous water views from all kinds of vantage points. We have water all around us here in the Seacoast areas of NH and southern Maine.

I caught this view of one of the back channels off the Piscataqua River while driving along Whipple Road and looking between a couple of houses. I loved the view peeking between the trees like this.

Portsmouth NH Bridges and Seagulls

Portsmouth NH is linked to Maine by three bridges, all 3 of which you can see in this picture. The one closest is the ‘downtown bridge’, and the high one in the background is the I-95 bridge. The middle one is the 2 green towers you see sticking up – that’s the Route 1 By-Pass bridge. The downtown bridge and the By-Pass bridge are both drawbridges that are in place to allow the tankers and large ships up the river. In the summer, these go up more frequently than in the winter.

The buildings in this picture are Kittery Maine condos, and quite beautiful condos at that, and with docks. If you look to the left side of this picture, you can see 2 men in the water fishing. When I spotted them, at first I thought it was just a couple of old upright pilings in the water but knew that was an odd place for pilings to be since I’d never seen any there before. Then one of them moved! And I quickly figured out what I was looking at!

I also managed to catch some seagulls (Monika!) in the air as well!

Portsmouth NH Life Along the River

The Piscataqua River marks the border between Portsmouth NH and Kittery Maine. From Portsmouth, you can look over to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, which is in Kittery Maine. And all along the river, you’ll see all kinds of boating activity combining both pleasure boats and working boats.

Portsmouth NH is a working harbor, an active port along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. We have tankers and ships that come in from all over the world. And of course we have a lot of local working fishermen and lobstermen earning their living from the NH and Maine waters right here.

Coastal Living – Lobster Traps Ready to Go!

Just about everywhere you look around you here in the Portsmouth NH and Kittery Maine area, you see water. This was my view when I was stopped for the drawbridge in downtown that connects Portsmouth and Kittery. I cross over this bridge several times a day usually, and this is some of the beauty I get to see all the time.

Have A Seat…. in Kittery Maine

You just never know what you’ll see and where you’ll see it, so I always have my camera in the car with me.

I was driving through Kittery Maine the other day, driving a route back to Portsmouth NH that I don’t normally take. And as I was approaching a stoplight, I looked to my left, and saw this huge chair and stool out in front of a brick building. There were other pieces of art in the yard, but this one really caught my eye.

Looks like a lot of people have felt the need to climb up on that chair and up onto the foot stool.

You can see a car parked behind this artwork – shows that this is not a normal sized chair.

Water Water Everywhere!

When you live here in the Seacoast areas of NH and southern Maine, you quickly discover there’s water all over the place. We have streams, brooks, rivers, inlets, bays, THE bay, and of course, the Atlantic Ocean, all right here at our doorstep.

One of my sisters was visiting awhile back, and as we drove over the bridge from Portsmouth NH into Kittery Maine, she said “imagine living here and getting to see all this water and beauty all the time”! How lucky we are, those of us fortunate enough to call Portsmouth NH home……
